Sunday was a good day. I spent the night at Amanda's and I got up very early and walked to a nearby bakery that I discovered on Saturday night. I had a tasty and enormous scone and got a little writing done. I went back to the house and around noon Audrey came over and we went out to lunch. We tried to find a movie but couldn’t decide on anything. Mostly, nothing much good is playing.

Instead of going to a movie, we just hung around and talked—and played with Amanda’s kitten. I enjoyed myself.

When Audrey was leaving, I asked her to give me a ride to the U-district. We continued our conversation and, for some reason, I got into a discussion with her about the different types of validity. We’d basically arrived where I wanted to be and Audrey said, “I want to drop you off but first I want to hear about the other kinds of validity.” So, we found a parking spot and sat for few minutes and continued our discussion of research methods. (The one I was having a hard time explaining/remembering was construct validity.) Unfortunately, I then treated her to a bit of a rant about work, but she didn’t seem to mind too much.

Then, I began my walk back to Amanda’s. It was still pretty hot so I walked slowly. I picked up a book to read and stopped for an iced chai. I kept walking and stopped to get a bite to eat at one of my old haunts, Kiku, good simple Japanese food. I watched a bit of the baseball game while eating.

Then I got back to walking and didn’t stop again until I got back. I was mighty sweaty but the long walk (about 2.5 miles) felt good. I took a shower and settled in to relax for the rest of the night. Now that was almost like a vacation.

Grateful for: an easy day.
